In the Beggining

My dad is from Madrid, Spain. His family moved to Montevideo, Uruguay when he was 8. My moms parents were Italian (grandpa) and French (grandma), they moved to Uruguay around the WW|| days. My parents met at a very young age and grew up together. They moved to N.J. and a year later I was born. They spoke no English so my first language was Spanish. We all started learning English about the time I went to kindergarden in elementary school. It's funny, English was always my best subject all through school, probably because I wanted to be the first American in my family, well I was, wether I wanted to be or not. I put Spanish aside as much as possible until I finished high school and moved to Ft. Lauderdale with my grandparents who spoke only Spanish these were my mothers parents. Beautiful people who always reffered to me as their favorite grandson. I always loved them, so much. Speaking English and Spanish is a blessing for me. It has helped me make money and get to know many people that I wouldn't have been able to communicate with if it weren't for that. On the other hand, life would have bee so much easier if I could have focused on one language. I try not to make excuses or put blame on my parents or others for my shortcomings but I believe the reality is that once my parents learned English they were able to help my brother and I with our studies and more. Unfortunately for me, it was too little - too late.Click Here To See Next Post ---> http://recoveryadvice.blogspot.com/p/anything-we-could-get-our-hands-on.html
